Your PoCo or GasCo will have minimum depth for electrical or natural gas buried service. you've got LOTS more research you need to do. I want to make sure it is ok to use these twin breakers.OP. My upstairs is 1200 square feet and my basement is about 900 but is not used much. I have done the calculator with future expectations and even if I put central air in I am looking at about a 65 amp load. I have a gas stove, hot water heater, dryer, gas boiler, etc. Now I have done the load calculator and currently I am using about 40 amps. I started to seperate a lot of stuff in my house onto it's own dedicated circuit, garage bathroom, etc. I am in the process of redoing my kitchen and now I have 4 seperate 20 amp breakers as opposed to the one single one I had running the whole kitchen. My first question is, is this safe to have a lot of these breakers. I have run out of room and now I am starting to replace breakers with the Twin breakers. Ok I have a 100 amp ITE Pushmatic breaker panel. Be careful to keep rocks out of the backfill if you've got rocky soil, the first couple inches of sand or peastone backfill is a good idea. Minimum depth allowed on residential land is 18" to the top of the cable, but if you've got a trenching machine it's no big deal to go 24" or 30". I would probably just bury that section deeper instead of using conduit. ![]() You could use a schedule 80 PVC conduit sleeve if you wanted for part of the run. > Will still probably place in conduit since part of run may come under The panel label and instructions will tell you the correct value for that brand. Finally, when you terminate the wire on the screw lugs, make sure to get the torque to the correct in-lbs using a torque wrench. You can get a tube of it in the electrical aisle for a few dollars. Apply lots of non-oxidation grease (NOALOX) to the bare aluminum I use a plumbing flux brush to work it down between the strands. ![]() > could use some help & advice on aluminum wire terminationĪfter you strip the wire, shine up the individual strands with a wire brush or emory paper. ![]() > Again is it ok to put 100amp as main breaker in sub panel & main When you install circuits in the barn, keep the grounds and neutrals on the correct bars. The instructions for the panel will say how to do this. This usually requires you to buy a ground bar kit for the panel and to remove a bonding screw or strap from the panel. This is also a good time to mention that the barn panel needs to have separate ground and neutral bars. This wire must be copper, aluminum is not allowed for ground rods. Use an acorn clamp on the top of the rod and run some bare #6 copper from the rod to the ground bar of the barn's panel. It should be 8' x 5/8" copper clad rod driven flush to the ground. You need at least one ground rod at the barn. > do i also need ground stake at pole barn? If you buy the aluminum cable I suggested, the ground is included. > #8 or #10 for bonding ground back to main panel > also plan to put 100amp main in sub at pole barn.Ī main breaker is required in the barn because it is a detached building. You still need conduit for protection on the ends where the cable runs out of the ground and into the buildings. It can be buried directly in the ground without the need for horizontal conduit. This is a cable assembly usually sold as 100A mobile home feeder. My recommendation is 4 conductor aluminum underground service cable 2/2/4/6 or 2/2/2/6. ![]() > Plan to run through conduit 18" underground Please post back if you need tips on aluminum wire termination. Aluminum is a little tricky to install, but copper would be very expensive for a 150' run. If the expect load is less than say 80A, #2 aluminum would be wire of choice. If you know that the panel is going to operate close to its 100A rating, then I would go larger than that. The minimum wire size you can run to a 100A panel is #4 copper or #2 aluminum. What size wire & type would i need to run 100 amp to pole barn approx.

Once I connected to it via the utility, a newer version of the AirPort utility was detected, so I upgraded. I was able to connect to the Base Station right away-it comes pre-configured with an SSID already set up. I went into the AirPort utility on the MacBook. The tiny LED on the front of the AirPort glows amber when the device is first powered up. The Ethernet connection is actually optional, because I set the router up completely wirelessly using the new 13-inch MacBook Air. The guide first instructs how to connect cables properly: first the Internet connection to the WAN port, a USB printer or hard drive to the USB port, an Ethernet cable to any device's Ethernet port, and then the power. It's an upright-operating router that would fit into any home networking setup or entertainment center just fine.ĪirPort Setup The router ships with a setup guide. I lament the fact that Apple chose to go with USB 2.0 instead of USB 3.0, but other than that, as another analyst in the lab observed, it's not a device you would mind having on your desk. It's an elegant networking device with good hardware inside. This router is clearly in line with Apple's emphasis on design. The AirPort Extreme Base Station is a simultaneous dual-band router supporting both the 2.4GHz band (which can be reserved for devices you only use for lighter tasks such as Web-browsing or checking Facebook) and the 5GHz band (which is more robust and can be used for more bandwidth-intensive tasks such as video streaming). The router uses Broadcom's latest 802.11ac SoC chipset. The antennas make use of beamforming technology, which helps direct a wireless signal to a wireless client. Inside, is a triple-stream, six antenna array. I ran the router for hours during testing and the AirPort never warmed up a bit. There is just enough space for air to circulate via the eight vents at the bottom. Now you may think it odd to have the fan at the bottom of a router, but actually, the router does not sit flush to a surface. The only other LED is a teeny-tiny one on the front which provides overall device status (amber color indicates the device is not connected or setup, or some other issue is going on, and green indicates online and all is good).Īt the bottom of the router is the device's fan and cooling system. There are three Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports on the back, a Gigabit WAN port, a USB 2.0 port (for printer and external hard drive sharing), and a power port. At the top of the router is the Apple logo in silhouette against the stark, white casing. My colleague Max Eddy nailed it when he said it looked like an Apple TV that's been stretched (it really does-and I doubt that's a coincidence). New Design and Specs The AirPort Extreme is a rectangular-prism shape with rounded edges. Still, those with a love for Apple's design-and hassle-free setup-will no doubt be happy with this attractive piece of hardware. Also, power users and those who need to get very granular with their wireless networks will likely want to look to other dual-band routers with more advanced capabilities. Add in dead-simple setup and it's a sure bet the new AirPort will delight many, despite the fact that the AirPort is not among the fastest pre-draft 802.11ac routers we've tested in 11ac mode. It's no surprise that the device is about as gorgeous as a router can get and that it has decent throughput (excellent at the 2.4GHz band, actually), not only with the 802.11ac-supported 13-and 11- inch MacBook Air's ( at Amazon) wireless adapters, but with Windows systems, too. ![]() Instead, the new AirPort is a mini-tower-designed to maximize wireless performance. He continued to travel widely, visiting London and Venice several times (and in 1895 Norway, where he painted with his beard ‘covered in icicles’), but increasingly his attention was focused on the celebrated water garden he created at Giverny, which served as the theme for the series of paintings of waterlilies (Nymphéas) that began in 1899 and grew to dominate his work completely (in 1914, by now wealthy and famous, he had a special studio built in the grounds of his house so he could work on the huge canvases).įrom 1908 he was troubled by failing eyesight (he had a cataract operation in 1923), but he painted until the end, completing a great decorative scheme of waterlily paintings that he donated to the nation in 1926, the year of his death. From 1890 he concentrated on series of pictures in which he painted the same subject at different times of the day in different lights-Haystacks or Grainstacks (1890–1) and Rouen Cathedral (1891–5) are the best known. By 1890 he was successful enough to buy the house at Giverny he had previously rented and in 1892 he married his mistress, with whom he had begun an affair in 1876, three years before the death of his first wife. The picture is about 2.5 m (8 ft) high and to enable him to paint all of it outside he had a trench dug in the garden so the canvas could be raised or lowered by pulleys to the height he required. This equation tells us that for a reaction the overall entropy change is the sum of the changes in the entropies of the products minus the sum of the entropies in the reactants. Therefore, the distance traveled is not a state function and is not pathway independent. If you go straight up, the distance will differ from if you zigzag and for any other path you take. On the other hand, the distance you travel up the mountain does depend on the path you take. This makes this function pathway independent. Whether you went straight up, zigzagged, went curvily, or any other pathway, your change in altitude will be the same at the end. Since no matter which way you go, you will end up at the top of the mountain, your change in altitude will always be the altitude. An example of a state function is the change in altitude when climbing a mountain, whereas an example of a non-state function is the distance traveled. ![]() This means that whatever “path” you take to get to the end result, the end result will be exactly the same. In essence, a state function is a function that has the property of pathway independence. Let’s take a quick side note to explain what a state function means and why it’s important. In Unit 6, we learned about Hess’s Law, which told us that enthalpy was a state function, meaning enthalpy changes are pathway independent. For now, lets look at the far right column that says S°.Ĭhange in entropy (ΔS°) can be thought of the same way we thought about changes in enthalpy (ΔH°) in unit 6 just thinking about entropy instead of heat changes. These tables may also contain other data such as enthalpies of formation like the one below. Similarly, most if not all chemistry textbooks have tables of thermodynamic data in the back of the book with a chart of standard entropies. ![]() Calculating these values is incredibly complex, but you will be given any absolute entropies you need on the exam. Absolute entropies, also known as standard entropies, describe the number of possible states a molecule can take, a measure of its disorder. Comparing S and ΔSĮntropy can be thought of both in its absolute form (S°) and as representing a change in entropy (ΔS°) (note that the ° symbol in each simply means that we are at standard conditions, that is 1atm of pressure and 273K). This differs from enthalpy, which can only be represented as a change (we can never find H° for a reaction but we can find ΔH°). Unlike enthalpy, which was discussed in unit 5, entropy can be measured both absolutely and as a change. In the last section, we introduced the idea of entropy as a measure of disorder in a system. ![]() Flenke joins the Wings af.ĭallas Wings Release 2024 Regular Season Schedule Posted on Monday December 18, 2023ĪRLINGTON, Texas - The WNBA has announced the 2024 regular season schedule. Both of these artefacts–the endogenous biotinylated proteins and the Protein A artefact–can be monitored by including an “irrelevant” antibody as an experimental control (e.g., running a parallel protocol in which the antibody directed against the target of interest is replaced by a non-specific antibody). The Protein A then bound detection antibodies when the immunoaffinity eluates were analyzed by Western blot. In these assays, Protein A shed from the beads, then bound to (and was eluted from) an immunoaffinity matrix designed to capture AD-related proteins. A second, unexpected artefact occurred when Protein A-conjugated Sepharose beads were used to deplete lysates of endogenous immunoglobulins prior to immunopurification of target proteins. These artefactual bands occurred in a transgene- and strain-dependent manner. First, when using biotin-avidin systems for antibody detection, endogenous biotinylated proteins created spurious bands in Western blots of brain lysates from AD patients and transgenic mouse models of AD. Here, we recount two examples of antibody-independent artefacts that have confounded the interpretation of results in our search for molecular entities associated with memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Much attention has been paid to the potential for poorly-characterized antibodies to lead to misleading results, but antibody-independent artefacts may also occur. Antibodies are commonly used to detect or isolate proteins from biological samples. ![]() VLC is a good example of that, since you go to to get it, not vlc.org or it's not like the unwary couldn't run into that kind of thing anyway. Then again, that's not really a problem introduced by being in an app store either, just a different version of the same issue. You have all the problems of any app store of course, fakes and such, so you want to make sure you are getting the one from VideoLAN. Since VideoLAN is publishing it themselves, there shouldn't be any differences. On the downside, if something goes awry in a store app, and it decides it's not going to update or uninstall or whatever, that can be a bit frustrating- then again, that's always been the case, this just gives you a more singular thing to be mad at, and moves the anger from the app to the store. Using a store can help the devs by helping make it so they don't have to worry about creating their own update process and can lean on the OS to handle that for them. They help reduce the system clutter, by centralizing the management and updating of installed apps. This experience is the main reason you'd want install from the store, but there are other benefits, they are just less obvious. The difference is how involved you have to be in the process of downloading and installing and updating, and how much effort the developer has to put into having a self updater.īecause of mobile, people more and more expect a mobile type experience- apps install from a store, and are updated by the store/OS. Is there any difference between these two methods, and which is better?
